The last week has been pretty hectic. We've been working on rolling out and updating our registration system for residents and conference guests, and finally everything seems to be in a working state (so no more touching until next week). For the first time, I think I can say I'm actually getting a little burned out from work, but I guess it wouldn't be fair not to at the clip of $20/hr. At least there's always relaxation time (usually) after work (unless something breaks...like it did a couple times this week at night).
Jackie got me a PS3!!! AND GTA4!!! Soooooooooo fun!!!! Ahhh and the surprise I got for her from Socal still isn't here yet....Getting to see her almost everyday now is awesome!
We went to go see Hairspray (the musical) in SF, and even I thought it was better than the movie (and I'm not that big of a musical fan to begin with). Lots and lots of innuendos and things that were left out of the PG version of the movie. I'm also pretty sure that we were blanketed with mucho gay guys...what kind of guys would go in PAIRS to watch HAIRSPRAY...the same guys that would go watch Sex And The City willingly?
Earlier this month Zech and I went down to UCSD and UCLA to help out with Harrison's ASA thing. Why can't Berkeley have as much free space and parking as UCSD?!?!? O well, I guess with gas going up its not too bad for everything to be within walking (or biking) distance.
Speaking of biking, I bought a $30 bike to bridge the gap between now going to work every day and next month when my paycheck can cover for a motorcycle again. Summer is making me miss having one...
I spent the last week refinishing the stock on my rifle, so our apartment smells kind of funky, but it should be all good by Monday...I'll probably end up going to the rifle range sometime next week (if anyone wants to come with).
I'm finally getting stuff done with the car. I finished repainting half of my taillights, and I'm working on fixing my headlight housing. I should finally have the wheels finished by the end of July (something I've been putting off since last October). On the flip side, I think I burned through the catalytic converters again so I'll probably want to save up for a new one if I ever want to pass smog again.
Oh, Jackie and I also went to see Jekyll and Hyde (the play), in SJ, which was pretty fun. I got to meet some of her HS friends.
ALMOST FORGOT!!! I'M FINALLY NOT UNDECLARED ANYMORE!!! HOORAY FOR CS!!!

For some reason, I can't sleep, and this is after a 9-hour 4pm-1am straight coding session for work (although at least that means I'll have $180 more in my bank account come payday). This isn't good, considering I have to be back at the office at 9am tomorrow to finish up the project. Finally done with finals (yay!, although not so yay for cs61c final), and summer has official started for me (although i have to spend it working full time, which isn't too bad because it means I'll get subsidized DC meals for only $2.75). Jackie bought me a PS3 AND GTA4 :D. I've been wanting one for a long time but just never could justify shelling out $450 to get it. I'm taking her somewhere on Tuesday, though, but she has no idea where (hint: somewhere in SJ). On a completely irrelavent note, my computer died (or so I thought), but it came back to life, just like my CS61B grade (hooray). Hm....only 5 more hours till I need to wake up. blahhh.
Oh, and between now and my last post, I've converted to using a Mac, because it's so nice having the flexibility of a Unix/FreeBSD system combined with their awesome GUI. I've also switched majors from MCB to CS, sold my bike, fixed my car, got a rifle, quit playing DotA, got a $5/hr pay raise, learned java, c, perl, mips, SQL, scheme, and emacs lisp (in descending order of how much I actually still remember), started playing racquetball, and got to spends LOTS of time with jackie :).

| wooo rx-7 |
[25 Jul 2007|12:38am] |
so, i went down to sunnyvale today to check out an rx-7...and i decided to buy it. got a really good deal on it, b/c it's in pretty good mechanical shape, except that 1) the top is torn a bit and 2) there's a bunch of electrical problems (gauges, internal lights, etc). The price I got it for was almost tantamount to stealing (mainly due to those electrical issues). Runs fine though, and most of those electrical problems can be solved by just resoldering the cold-soldered joints on the boards, or just replacing the fuses. In any case, I now have a running 1988 Mazda RX7 Convertible. ( pix )

Haven't posted in LJ for a long long time. Classes are going better this semester than last semester...so far. Finally got my bike back up and running, which is good. Seems like there's so much change going on these days. At least, my life changed a lot. It'll never be the same again, for better or for worse.

GAHHHH. O, and then 7 hours of class straight on wednesday from 8-3. I am sooooo not gonna be getting much sleep this semester. http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~amanb/cgi-bin/makeSched.cgi?file=muqingjingfall06&open=1

| most annoying song...ever |
[03 Aug 2006|12:21am] |
|
why do they play that rhianna "unfaithful" song on the radio all the time? it's like....the stupidest and most annoying song ever. not just because her voice is so whiny and nasaly...but she's singing and whining about feeling bad about cheating on her bf? wtf, if she feels so bad about it...why doesnt she just stop? lol...pretty retarded if the whole premise of her song is that she can't. 1 week and a half before i have to get back to school...blah summer went by so fast. got most of my classes registered for that i wanted to take (except for stats 2, which i was forced to waitlist because the only lab time that fit my schedule was full). so now i got monday tuesday wednesday friday 8'oclock classes, and on mondays i get to sit in VLSB from 8-1. o, i also realized im such a noob. the physics class i signed up for (which i plan to drop anyways, just reg'd for it in case one of my other classes doesnt work out) was 8A, which i took LAST SEMESTER. i meant to register for 8b...lol, i almost did that with chem 3b and 3a too...i'm such a n00b. got pwnd in the face. o well, i can still change it tomo, but my schedule will probablly be like (assuming i dont get into stats 2 and will drop physics) http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~amanb/cgi-bin/makeSched.cgi?file=muqingjingfall06&open=1. I like my friday's, they look nice. haha.

We're talking about maybe going to Fry's, its around 9:30, fry's closes at 9 Joe: We can go to the 24-hour Fry's in cupertino Me: Right.... 3 minutes later Nancy: Ok, lets go to the 24-hour Fry's in cupertino! (totally thinking it was true)
10 minutes later, talking about her needing a music book Me: There's a 24-hour music store in Fremont that's open. Nancy: Ok, lets go! (3rd times the charm?)
10 minutes after that Me: We could always go to that 24-hour walmart. Nancy: I'm not falling for you tricks this time, theres no such thing as a 24-hour walmart. (geeze, i tell the truth and u think im trying to trick u?)

for some reason i have this huge urge to start poker again, even though i probably should spend my time on my productive things. like review for ochem for next semester. i think that since my 3a grade sucked, my 3b grade is gonna be worse, since i know diddly squat about nmr. guess i have lots to read up on. work has been....ok...but bart has sucked. it takes bart so long, and its so friggen loud. and then parking at bart is....almost as bad. if i get there 10 mintues too late, virtually no spots whatsoever. i'm really craving pizza right now, anyone know of any good pizza places?

does anyone else find it extremely ironic that the bulk of the 70,000 american engineers that graduate each year comes from the state with the worst education system? i also find it ironic that the state with the worst education system spends $9billion annually on welfare for illegals. see, this means one thing: our engineers aren't smart enough to figure out how to build a high tech wall (although ironically the illegals are hella pro at putting up drywall and fences and the like), which means more ppl come and welfare increases and engineers get worse and worse and the cycle continues. lolz, life is full of ironies, probably just to mock us.

ok, apparently know we know why all those ppl in new orleans didnt evacuate.
"Worst of all -- and clear evidence that something has to be done -- was what happened when the respondents were given a map and told they could escape a hypothetical hurricane by evacuating to the northwest: One-third of the young people could not point out which way was northwest."
omfg, if they cant figure out which way is northwest, do we really want them to procreate? lol. kinda scary to know they're out on the road, making ur burgers, building ur houses. this scares the crap out of me. i mean just think, what other stuff are they totally oblivious too? god knows how they manage to pay their taxes (if they even do that). what a waste of public education money. prolly money better spent on opening up a how-to-live-off-of-welfare school or burger-flipping acadamies. at least then maybe the burgesr i get at mcdonalds will start to remotely resemble the ones i see on the ads and commercial. cuz seriously, the burgers ALWAYS look the shit...except the ones i got in china. but i mean, hey, they're all required to have a college degree, so they better be able to fire up a mean burger that has everything in the right porportions and ratios...and a patty that is actually CIRCULAR as opposed to dementedly odd-shaped. god i hate how the burgers i get always have patties that are deformed and crap, or how the top bread is like completely misaligned with the bottom bread, and the lettace and tomatoes are sliding out. it looked like threw it all together in 2 seconds and wrapped it up

dude, i cant believe so many freaking retards (and by retards i dont mean mentally disabbled, i mean the dumbest-ass motherfucka's california has to offer) can sue for not passing the exit exam and win. that's basically like california saying that the exit exam is too hard. i mean, shit, maybe i should sue berkeley for almost failing my chem midterm because it's too hard for people that don't know beans about math. last time i checked math was a universal subject. if u suck at math, then y would u even need a high school diploma? i mean, if an employer even asks for a high school diploma, it must mean ur gonna need math, and when they figure out u cant tell perpindicular from parallel, or find the area of a damn circle, they'll prolly fire ur ass anyways. o, and if u suck ass at english, a lot of help a diploma is gonna get u. its like giving an engineer a medical degree. it's not like they're gonna be able to use it without having the skills to have gotten it in the first place.
